Creating Simple Syrups

Creating Simple Syrups

At Twisted Alchemy, we believe in getting creative. Our line of versatile, cold-pressed juices can transform cocktails in countless ways. Our current favorite? Infusing simple syrup with cold-pressed, pure juice to bring natural fruit-forward sweetness to your cocktails. This versatile and easy-to-make syrup is a great addition to cocktails, lemonades, teas, and even drizzling over pancakes or desserts.

Not sure where to start? How does a 100% Grapefruit Cold Pressed Juice infused syrup for an added kick of flavor in Palomas sound? Or a 100% Eureka Lemon Cold Pressed Juice infused syrup for drizzling on muffins and baked goods? The possibilities are endless.

To start, gather your ingredients: Twisted Alchemy fruit juice of choice (we recommend Passion Fruit, Blood Orange, or Pomegranate) and granulated sugar. The general rule of thumb is to use equal parts of fruit juice and sugar, but feel free to adjust the ratio to your desired level of sweetness.

Begin by cracking open your Twisted Alchemy juice and adding it to a saucepan over medium heat. It is essential to use fresh, cold-pressed juices without any artificial additives here, because added sugar or artificial sweeteners will ruin the natural essence of the fruit. Thankfully, Twisted Alchemy has an entire line of juices ready for just this purpose.

Once the juice warms up, but before it boils, slowly add the granulated sugar, stirring continuously until it dissolves completely. Allow the mixture to come to a gentle simmer, but do not let it boil vigorously. Lower the heat to prevent burning or caramelization.

Simmer the mixture for a few minutes to ensure that the sugar is fully dissolved and the fruit flavors are infused into the syrup. Keep in mind that the longer you simmer, the more concentrated the flavors will become and the thicker the resulting syrup will be. For cocktailing, we recommend a thinner syrup, but for baking a thicker syrup adds a delightful texture.

After simmering, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature. Once cooled, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove any pulp or solids, leaving you with a smooth and clear fruit-infused syrup.

Transfer the fruit juice simple syrup into a clean, airtight container, and store it in the refrigerator. It can last for up to two weeks if kept properly refrigerated.
