Commercially grown first in Europe in Genoa in the 15th century it was then introduced into the Americas by Christopher Columbus. Spanish conquest throughout the New World helped spread lemon seeds. In the 19th century, lemons were increasingly planted in Florida and California. You cannot have a complete handcrafted cocktail program without it.
