What is National Bourbon Heritage Month?
September marks a special time for bourbon enthusiasts: National Bourbon Heritage Month. This observance was unanimously declared in 2007 by the U.S. Senate to honor the rich heritage and deep-rooted legacy of the bourbon industry in America. It's a time to appreciate the artistry and history behind one of America's most beloved spirits. Distilleries, bars, and bourbon lovers nationwide celebrate with tastings, events, and of course, enjoying bourbon in its many delicious forms.
Crafting the Perfect Bourbon Sour
As part of the celebration, why not master the art of a classic cocktail that showcases bourbon's versatile flavor? The Bourbon Sour is a timeless cocktail that perfectly balances the rich, warm notes of bourbon with the bright tartness of lemon, complemented by the sweetness of simple syrup. Here’s how you can make one using Twisted Alchemy's fresh cold-pressed juices, ensuring you get the most vibrant flavors in your drink.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 ounces premium bourbon
- 1 ¼ ounces Twisted Alchemy Lemon Sour
- 1 orange wheel (garnish)
- 1-2 Maraschino cherries (garnish)
Directions:
Mix the ingredients: In a shaker, combine the bourbon & Twisted Alchemy Lemon Sour. Fill the shaker with ice, covering the liquid.
Shake it up: Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. The goal is to chill the cocktail while slightly diluting it with the melting ice, which helps to smooth out the flavors.
Strain and garnish: Strain the mixture into the chilled glass. Garnish with an orange wheel and one or two maraschino cherries.
Serve and enjoy: Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing, complex flavors of your homemade Bourbon Sour.
