Boards, Batches, & Sunshine: Your Labor Day Hosting Hack is this Three Citrus Sangria Recipe

Labor Day always sneaks up as the bittersweet long weekend that closes out summer and is the perfect excuse to gather friends, head outdoors, and toast to sunshine before fall sets in. And when it comes to easy entertaining, nothing beats a pitcher of sangria paired with a colorful charcuterie board. This Three-Citrus Sangria is light, refreshing, and just the right balance of tart and sweet. Paired with a mix of cheeses, cured meats, and fruit, it makes the kind of spread that looks impressive but is wonderfully low-effort.

Pairing Board

Cheeses:

Brie - Buttery, creamy texture softens the sangria’s tart edges.

Manchego - Nutty and firm, it mirrors the slight nuttiness of white wine while holding up to acidity

Goat cheese with honey - Tangy notes play well with citrus; honey adds a touch of sweetness to bridge flavors

Aged cheddar - Sharp and crumbly, it stands up to the brightness without being overpowered

Burrata with olive oil - Creamy center complements acidity, while citrus zest ties flavors together

Cured Meats:

Prosciutto - Salty and slightly sweet, the delicate texture balances the sangria’s acidity

Soppressata - Fatty and peppery, these offset the sangria’s refreshing sharpness

Crackers:

Rosemary crackers - Herbaceous notes match the drink’s aromatic elements

Fresh Fruits:

Strawberries - Enhance fruity notes in the sangria, especially if used in the drink garnish

Green grapes - Crisp and mildly tart, they echo the sangria’s freshness

Dried apricots - Concentrated sweetness balances acidity and complements cheese

Savory & Briny:

Castelvetrano olives - Mild, buttery flavor won’t overwhelm the sangria

Cornichons - Vinegary snap cuts through fatty meats and cheeses

Sweet Touches:

Dark chocolate with sea salt

Garnish & Decor:

Mint
