With summer comes sun, fun and Negroni Week. This beloved week (June 4-10th) is presented by Imbibe Magazine and Campari and launched in 2013 as a celebration of one of the world’s great cocktails and an effort to raise money for charities around the world.
Over the last few years, Negroni Week has grown from about 120 participating venues to over 7,700 venues around the world, and to date, they have collectively raised nearly $1.5 million for charitable causes. Go on!
Here’s where you should be heading to imbibe in the Windy City during Negroni Week:
The Dawson, this West Town joint is mixing up their take on the Negroni; Red Rover, Red Rover which is Gin, Campari, Punt e Mes, Giffard Crème de Framboise, Raspberry-Plum Shrub. The best part? It’s served bottled.
If Wicker Park is more your scene, The Robey is a must. During Negroni Week they’re featuring “From Ashes to Ashes”; Beef Jerky infused Bulldog Gin, Balsam Red Vermouth, Campari and candied orange peel. Yes, it sounds utterly drool-worthy. If a classic drink is more your thing, they will be serving classic Negronis featuring Bulldog Gin, Campari, and Cocchi di Torino.
For those looking for a chilled out space with seriously delicious cocktails, we recommend Billy Sunday in Logan Square. They are doing a play on a sbagliato- which is typically Bitters di Torino and sweet Vermouth topped with sparkling wine. But they took a playful spring approach and they’re serving theirs in a 7oz bottle and carbonating the whole cocktail together. It gets better, they’re calling her; The Rizzo.
And for a bit of fun Three Dots and a Dash in River North is a no-brainer. They’re adding a bit of tiki to their Negroni with passionfruit and lemon.
